A uterine prolapse is when the uterus descends into the vagina. It happens when the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments become weak and are no longer able to support the uterus
When a woman does not want a hysterectomy i.e ( removal of complete uterus) Sacrohysteropexy is used to treat uterine prolapse where surgical mesh is attached to the cervix and then to the sacrum, lifting the uterus back into place. Surgery using vaginally placed mesh which is used to treat all types of prolapse.
